In 1492 Christopher Columbus discovered America. It is also the year when the Aldinger estate was established and more than five centuries later, it is the oldest and a leading innovator in the region.
Through the 1970s when vineyard expansion led to unique mineral-rich wines and the 1990s when Gert Joachim Aldinger took the reins, tradition has been the guiding star in the winery’s production.
Gert led the way in the region when he brought in international varietals and started reduced yield farming for best quality fruit and fine wines. Today sons Hansjörg and Matthias are poised to take over from their father to continue making excellent wines from Riesling, Lemberger, Spätburgunder, Trollinger, Weissburgunder and a range of noble grapes.
A member since 1994, Aldinger’s annual bottle production is 220,000.
