Super interesting interview: CEO and chairman of Union Square Hospitality Group, also founder of Shake Shack, Danny Meyer, joins Washington Post Live on Tuesday, March 2 at 11:30am ET to discuss what the restaurant industry needs to make it through the remainder of the pandemic.
This is a terrific review of the amazing 2o19 vintage by Lobenberg's, our favorite wine store in Germany. We are pleased to represent many of the wines that have been highlighted in this report and we are working relentless to bring more of these top wines to American Sommeliers and collectors.
It was an absolute pleasure co-hosting this Virtual Wine tasting for our friends at the German American Chamber of Commerce (GACC). While I was pouring Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noirs from three different German wine regions, we enjoyed beautiful live music by the talented Eleanor Dubinsky and had the opportunity to meet new and interesting people. I look forward to meet everyone in person later this year but am grateful we are getting together on these virtual sessions in the meantime. Reminder that we are pricing our own label Grand Cru Spätburgunder from Weingut Nelles at 50% off retail as an exclusive offer to all GACC members.
One of the key drivers to start the Wünder small batch Pinot project in NYC was the excitement that this underrated varietal carries here with Sommeliers in Top Restaurants. When we launched, we dedicated 50 cases to Manhattan Restaurants with the best wine lists ranked by Gayot. This all happened just before Covid and very few cases have moved. While I was concerned about this pandemic and the devastating impact it would have on the world, I never worried about this project. It is a matter of time that we will be out there again, enjoying great food and wine in these spectacular places and we are excited to be part of that re-opening journey.
Brilliant article in WineEnthusiast by Anna Lee C. Iijima about the broad diversity of German whites! Typically associated with Riesling, the nation’s most heralded and widely planted grape. Yet, beyond Riesling’s bright glare, Germany boasts a diversity of intriguing white wines.
Published in July 2018 and more true today, a strong reckoning for stellar expressions of Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir from Germany in this third in a three-part series in WSJ by Lettie Teague.
Delighted to host this virtual Wine Tasting for my friends at the GACC NY. If you fancy a less serious Zoom call for a change and taste some delicious VDP wines from Ahr, Pfalz and Württemberg, please join us and register here.
